They create a fun, informal, social setting that spurs engagement and supports each child's musical development.
"Miss Christy" has been singing, dancing, teaching and entertaining young children and families since 1999. Christy has a B.F.A in theatre performance from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and a M.A. in Marriage, Family and Child Therapy from the Phillips Graduate Institute in Encino, CA. Before moving to Traverse City, she was the center director for Wee Heart Music, Inc. offering Music Together® classes for nearly 15 years in the western suburbs of Chicago, IL. In 2010, she was awarded Music Together Certification Level II for outstanding achievement in teaching, musicianship, program philosophy, and parent education by the Center for Music and Young Children in Princeton, NJ. "Miss Christy" also performs for birthday parties and special events and has recorded two holiday CDs (both available on iTunes, Amazon and CD Baby).
While in Traverse City, she has enjoyed singing and performing with various groups including TC Sings Community Choir, NMC Jazz Vocal Ensemble and Manitou Winds. In March 2016, she made her debut appearance at the Old Town Playhouse in the title role of their production "Mary Poppins - the Broadway Musical!" Since then she has been an active member of OTP and had the honor to play such roles as Sarah in Stephen Sondheim's musical "Company" and her personal favorite so far, Lady of the Lake in Monty Python's "Spamalot!" She remains active in theatre will be joining the professional company Parallel 45 in their production of the popular children's book "Go Dog. Go!" - March 3rd at the Little Fleet! Aside from teaching Music Together, Christy enjoys her time working as a teacher assistant in the preschool classroom at the Children's House - An Independent Montessori School.
